October Happenings

Libbie and I started helping the Full Time Missionaries teach a young girl in our ward.  Kaymin is 10 and she and Libbie have created  great relationship.  She has a baptismal date for Jan. 18th.  Her mother is already a member and they are such great people. We are lucky to have them in our lives.
Gavin received his First Class Scout Rank Advancement.  Gavin is a responsible boy who wants to do well not only because he was told to but because he knows it will make him a better person.  Way to go Gavin.

Las Vegas Area Council had their 3rd Annual Influential Women in Scouting Awards evening.  I love this award because there are so many women in scouting who go unrecognized.  I'm grateful they created this event.
Here I am doing my annual duty of welcoming the recipients and pinning on the corsage.  I'm probably telling her I'm not a very good corsage pinner on-er.  Poor woman.:)
We all help serve the dinner and of course there is always the clean up.  This is another reason I'm grateful for this award...teaching our kids to work.

Gavin received his Faith In God award when he turned 12.  This is something he worked on for 4 years.  He did it the right way, making sure to accomplish 2 a year from each area, instead of cramming it all in at the last minute.  Good job Gavin!
A trip to Olive Garden before the game.
A special thanks to Aunt Paige and Uncle Marty who sent us all to the Nuggets/Clippers game here at the Mandalay Bay Arena for our Christmas and a few birthday gifts.  What a night!  We appreciate the thought, game and family time together!
Philip got to go to Philmont in October for a Board Retreat.  Here he is hiking toward the Tooth of Time.
He said it was a great hike and time to get to know the Board better.  I was sorry I couldn't attend but have three kids that kind of like a parent around.  More to come on our adventures while he was gone.
