going green

As per the previous post regarding allowances -- our children have learned how to become very frugal or particular about what they buy, barter and create.  I just loved this baby crib Libbie made.  She had a big long list of things she needed for her baby : blanket, crib, stroller, grocery cart/food etc.  After looking at her list she realized she wouldn't have enough to buy them all so she made the crib out of items in our recycling.  Then she took some  fabric to a 12 year old neighbors house (when she was babysitting Libbie) and they made a blanket out of some of my old fabric.
It's amazing what  you can do in a pinch!

This reminds me of how we did things when we were kids. Our era is long gone and kids these days don't know much about this philosophy. Way to teach your kids, Megan!
