Today I went with Garrett's 3rd grade class to the Ogden Nature Center. He came home last night really excited because Maddie was going to be in his group. He said "It's going to be THREE Eborns Mom!" This morning he asked me to wear my Eborn Reunion shirt -- I looked for it but to no avail, ugh, one of the downfalls of not keeping up on the laundry. He was good to understand.
9 AM -- off we went on the loud, dirty, cold, rickety, stinky and did I say loud-- bus. I do love riding with the kids...it gives me a chance to see the "bus manners" or lack there of. Kids have home manners, school manners, church manners and then there's bus manners. I think every parent should ride the bus -- maybe only once though for sanity's sake.

It's been fun to see these cute kids grow up. It seems this year they are really changing.

Maddie and Anora in the mouse hole.

Cute cousins!

The boys are showing me the way the men rang the doorbell of the Tee Pee. By hitting your chest with a fist and saying "UGH" You can bet they loved that one.

We watched as they showed us what a Native Americans kitchen was like 300 years ago. She made us journey cakes. They were kind of like cornmeal pancakes. She said the 7 year old girls job was to crush the corn into corn meal all day. (one girl said, "and not even get paid???") She told us that even the three year olds had jobs -- to keep the fire going all day. Of course the boys eagerly asked what their job would have been in HOPES that it was hunting. She said -- it was to go train to hunt. YES! The answer they were looking for.

Cute Maddie in the Tee-Pee.

The Native Americans home.
This was one of my favorite parts.
After our tour we wandered the park for about an hour and never went on the same trail twice. We saw 3 deer (or 6 depending on who you ask) and had a great time. I'd say it's a must to go back to.
Did I mention....you have to ride the bus back home too?

I rode the bus to the ice rink in Logan with Ethan last year. YUCK. When it came time for parent volunteers to ride all the way to Ogden dino park in a big stinky loud bus, guess who's name was NOT on the list?:)
THAT'S what Benson meant when he was talking about Native American doorbells ...
FUn outing! I do the bus thing- I don't mind- It's all good. Garrett was lucky to have his mom there.
CHalisa, I hear you -- I ride it for all field trips -- three to SLC and farther -- yikes.:)
What a fun field trip. Even better when you can go with cousins. I'm with ya on the bus manners thing. We are driving our kids this year, however, Mason is loves the bus so I let him ride once in a while.
Sounds like everyone had a good time. Bus manners, they never change. I can still remember my first day on the bus when I was in first grade. The memory was not really all that great because there was a high school boy bullying some youngr kids, not me. Man, that was a long time ago.
Maybe tmy memory isn't so bad after all. Well, goota go. Let's see, where did I leave my keys?
That looks like a really fun place. Every morning when I go to work out, I hear the chants coming from the Academy which is right next door...how do they do that with their voices? I think it was so cool that the kids got to participate and that you went with Garrett.
That looks like a really great way to spend a day! Except for the bus part.
