It's the simple things

After ten years of marriage I got a cello.......AND a new broom! Yep, I've had the same kitchen broom for 10+ years. It has been referred to as a tent broom(apparently it was small) and the little cap on the top of the stick kept popping off. Sweeping up the dirt was another task -- I'd move back so much everytime that I was halfway across the room with the dustpan before I was done. Some of you may think this is disgusting to have a broom for this long -- I personally think it's frugal. (or sheer laziness!)

Yesterday I swept right across a semi-melted chocolate chip -- YUCK! There was no recovering from this one. I headed to Target last night and bought the most amazingly soft bristled broom you have ever met. Sweeping with it this morning was luxurious! And the dustpan -- wow, words cannot describe how well it grips to the floor to welcome the dirt. Yes, that's right, I got a broom/dustpan combo! I know you're all jealous -- just wanted to give you something to be envious of for the day. Just try to contain it, will ya? :)

So, who keeps their broom for more than 10 years --- anyone??

LOL! It truly is the simple things that can make one happy. :) Hopefully this broom will outperform your last broom with all the new technological advances that they are making, surely a broom and dustpan would have to benefit.

I've had my broom for 8! It's been through a multitude of apartments, houses and messes. :) It was a good broom then and I think it still is now! Although I'm sure it'll have to be replaced one of these days!

Um, this is wierd... I don't like brooms... I use the nozzle of my vacuum and OCDingly vacuum the dirt off the floor.

I also had the same broom for about 10 years and every time my mother-in-law came to help out with a newborn or what-have-you, she always teased me about my crappy broom. I finally gave in and replaced it and I couldn't believe how much quicker I could sweep up the kitchen! Genius! How about not replacing your pillows for 10 years? Yes I am guilty and I know it's gross.

I can relate, my broom is so old I have to push it to sweep anything up! But my dustpan is from my college years with my maiden name still on it, I will never give that up!

But I want to know about this cello!

If a broom makes you that happy I
think you might need to take a close look inside, after all you
just got a cello!!!!!
Light things do make a difference.

I have not counted the years, but I'm sure I had one that long at some point in time. Since we've been moving so often, that seems to be one of the items I inevitably lose or end up with some strange broom that doesn't work instead of the one I had...how does that happen? I have no idea! However, I do agree wholeheartedly with the joy a good broom AND dustpan that stay together can bring!

We've had our broom for 10 years also. It has been broken in half this year, so it comes to my waist and it has poky metel sticking out. I know I need to go get another, but I guess its just laziness and frugality.

Brady and I have been married for 10 1/2 years and I don't recall ever buying another broom, so- I've had mine that long. Did ever really think about it but I guess I"m due for a new broom too. I didn't know there were "NICE" one's out there to be had. Guess you don't know what you're missing out on if you don't have one.

Glad you have a new broom to go along with your cello. One things for sure it won't get used much on Halloween. You have wings.

I actually got my first broom of my married life about 6 months ago and I've used it once. I didn't even buy it, my mom decided I had to have one and brought it to me one day. Maybe it was a hint, who knows?:) I'm not a total grub, I just use my vacuum...
