The room was quiet...

...as President Monson walked into the Marriott Center. A quiet voice was heard singing "We thank thee Oh God for a prophet." Slowly the whole Marriott Center began singing and chills ran through my body. I know President Monson is the prophet who the Lord has chosen to be here on the earth today. I know that we are supposed to follow our prophet today. Just as Noah, Moses, Abraham and many other prophets were chosen to lead the people of their day. The Lord reveals to President Monson what we need to know for TODAY. He spoke of "enjoying the journey." As women we tend to dwell on things that we do wrong, he asked us to remember the things we do right and blessed us for those righteous choices.
I hung out with Cathrine at lunch one day.
Women's Conference was, of course, great. I felt a spiritual rejuvenation that has been needed for a while now. We all go through ups and downs in life and this weekend was a great reminder of how important it is to focus on the important things in life -- family, gospel standards, service for all.

President Spencer W. Kimball said "The most important word in the dictionary is: remember" Think about it...we are constantly being taught things we already know -- and just need to be reminded of. Remember our covenants, remember our husband/wife, Remember our families...it makes sense to me.

I attended some great courses. One of them was on Equality in our marriages. They stated 3 things that we should all avoid in order to help our marriage.

1. Self - indulgence

2. Self - absorption

3. Self - doubt

As we serve each other we become more like Christ, thus becoming closer together as a couple.

Lydia, Angela and I (Michelle, Catherine and Kayla were MIA - not hard to do at Women's Conference with 50 bazillion people:))
I also attended a class on personal prayer. It's tough to sum up an hour in a paragraph -- but, here is an acronym one of the speakers used when speaking of personal prayer.

G.R.O.W.

G - go to your gratitude well

R - remember the relationship with your Heavenly Father

O - Offer an offering(ask who you can help)

W - wait on wis His will (what should you pray for/about)

Personal prayer requires, preparation, purpose and effort. I was very grateful for this great reminder course!

My favorite quote of the conference(summarized by me):
"We will never be more surprised than when we pass through the veil, see our Heavenly Father and realize how well we know him...his voice and his face" -- I think it was Spencer W. Kimball who said this. What a great experience to visualize.

I'm off to be a better person!!

Sounds like a great time. I really liked the GROW - it really is a great reminder, so often we forget that when we pray. What an awesome experience to be where the prophet is and to feel the spirit that is there.

Thanks Megan for the great pics and memories. Also thanks for posting the GROW acronym. I was going to ask you for that. It was fun! (in spite of not enough sleep)

Sounds like a great experience. I remember so well the time we got to be in President Monson's office when our brother-in-law was set apart as the president of the Atlanta Temple. He even invited me to assist him the setting apart. It was an unforgettable experience. He is so genuine, and truly cares about others, a great example for us all.
Also, I'm sure you noticed the great miracle which took place while you were there in the Marriot Center. Twenty thousand women under one roof, and quiet. Now that is on a par with the loaves and the fishes.
