side note: I guess I should have noted that as a parent of a child with asperger syndrome -- things like throwing away your lunch at school are HUGE milestones!! And things like bringing your lunch home -- are HILARIOUS!:) I noticed I didn't get many comments, but really, it's okay to laugh!!! Remember, it's what keeps us going.:)
Okay, on to my run. My good friend Candace saved my life last night when she called to see if she could run the 20 mile run with me this morning. Motivation ! Yes, that's what I needed!
We took off running like crazy(for me) at about 9:25 minute mile -- whoa Nelly, I'd never make it 20 miles at that pace. So we slowed it down. We held consistent to 10:35 minute miles for about 10 miles -- at mile 11 we were feeling our legs....we slowed down to about 11 minute miles. We held that pace for the next ten miles(thanks to "my 99.5") -- well, I should say Candace held that pace the whole time -- my right quad felt like it was on FIRE for the last two miles. I think I was compensating for the nickel sized blister on my left arch!!! She finished about a minute faster than I did, but WHO CARES CUZ WE FINISHED!!!:)
I'd take a picture -- but I know you don't really wanna see...I have 1 huge blister on my arch, 1 medium blister on my big toe and about 7 small blisters on my other toes. No pain, no gain right??

Remember what you told me about my tootsies. Same goes for you. Twenty Miles, holy cow, you're wonder woman personfied. It's good to have a friend who is willing to suffer with you. And you are right there is really no gain without some pain. Pain is good, if for nothing more than to remind us of WHO really bore the pain. Your're getting awfully close to that marathon. Just don't pull the Pheidippedes trick at the end. Love ya all!!!
You always use too big of words for me.:) What the heck is Pheidippedes????:)
Good for you!
Okay, I looked it up -- he died at the end-- i PROMISE i wont' do that!! I would miss blogging too much!:)
Good job Meegz! I am hoping Jake and I are going to run tomorrow but it will be no where NEAR 20 miles!
I can't wait for you to do this race...you've worked really hard for this!
You didn't know jogging/running would lead you into a lesson on Greek history did you. I'm glad you were curious enough to look it up.
okay, so I always come back to read Barts comments because they are just as exciting as your post! I too was a little mystified by the whole Pheidippedes.
P.S. these word verifications are getting out of control....I can't even read this one....
I too enjoy Bart's comments...I'm very impressed with your running 20 miles...blisters and all (remember "second sole"...use it!) I remember when we walked 21 miles across the hills of the Livermore Valley when you were in high school and thought our feet were going to fall off the last 5 miles! Can't imagine running that far! Love you so much and LOVE your blog!
yeah, but we were hiking up hills etc -- this is nice flat terrain -- and when you run it doesn't take all day -- just half a day.:) Love you Mom!
You are now ready for the big day! I hope you have a good race!
