Tonight we attended a wonderful Eagle Court of Honor for three young men in our ward. These boys have spent the last 5 years working together to achieve this rank.

I have to post this picture of my dear, dear friend receiving her mothers pin from her oldest son. Such a sweet sight to me. I know how much she teaches, worries and prays for her children- she is an amazing example to me in ALL things.

Mayor Andy Hafen attended and made the closing remarks. I thought that was quite amazing for those boys to have him take time out of his busy schedule ( he started his day today at 3 AM in Washington DC) to honor them. I bet it will make the evening even more memorable for them.

One of the most poignant parts of the evening was watching the many, many men file up to the Eagles Nest. I haven't ever seen a nest that large before but I haven't seen very many. The Mayor says he has attended many of these Courts and he said it was the largest he had seen.
I couldn't help but think of the possible correlation of the size of the nest with the strength of our ward as I looked at all of the men up there. Our ward here is very strong. Our leadership runs deep. We don't have the stereotypical 10 families that run the ward. We have MANY that could be Bishops, counselors, and other auxiliary leaders. Could it be because of the character path that an Eagle Scout starts out on? I have to think, yes.
The Scouting Program is truly inspired of God. Thanks for your great example to us Bradley, Keaton and Jaden!

The world would be a different place if every young man could be led to understand and internalize the principles of scouting. Working together with friends and great leaders on a goal of becoming an Eagle Scout is definitely a soul strengthening experience. Now add the Duty to God to that and these young men stand a great chance of being husbands, fathers and leaders in the Church and society in genral.
We are glad our grandsons are being involved in the scouting program.
Love you all and always,
Grandpa Bart
Great news for everyone! And I can tell posted from your heart:)!
That is a big eagle nest! Sounds like a great ward. I bet they have an amazing RS President ;-)
Yes, an A-MAZING RS president! It's great people like you that add volumes to a ward like ours. We are very blessed, aren't we? I learn so much from the examples of service and leadership around us. And these boys are getting a great start. Well said.
