A great conversation I heard between two of our children the other day:
Libbie: mom, a boy at school is bullying me lately. He calls me names all the time.
Gavin: who is he? What is his name?
Libbie: ( tells his name and gives a description)
Me: what are you going to do? Beat him up?( kind of chuckling)
Gavin:( in a very bold tone) no, I'm going to tell him to leave MY SISTER alone!!!
I have to say, I smiled from ear to ear when I hear that.
I'm so happy she has a big brother who looks out for her. He walks her to and from school everyday and I think they share more stories in those few blocks than I ever did with my siblings growing up. Thanks Gavin and Libbie for letting me catch a glimpse into your wonderful friendship. It's inspiring!

He takes after his dad. He even stood up for his sister one time at school when he overheard another boy making unkind remarks to her. His actions resulted in his being suspended from school for a day. His own unkind remarlks to her must have been forgotten for the moment. Blood runs deeper than water, they say. I'm glad your kids can be good friends too.
Love you all forever,
Grandpa Bart
