random september & october photos

I have been out of commission for about the past 6 weeks.  I have been in charge of a Family Fun Festival at our Elementary School - a huge event that brought in about 1300 people and about $10,000 for the school.  I was thrilled with the outcome and just as thrilled that it's over now.

In between planning for that we had Libbie's Birthday, Baptism, Gavin's Birthday, and a few Relief Society Events -- all of which I helped plan.   All of the above is my excuse for not blogging -- sorry to our parents who we know look to this blog to make sure we're alive. :)  I'm back now.
Following are a few random photos from those weeks...
Our Libbie (who goes by Elizabeth now at school) was chosen as "Wildcat of the week"   She was wearing a leotard and decided to "dress it up" with tissues for the photo op.  Creative?  yes. :)
Del Webb Middle School (Garrett's school) went on "lock-down" one day in September.   We had to go pick them up because they wouldn't allow any kids walking on the sidewalks near the school.  Apparently there was a man barricaded in his home and they were fearful of what would happen when he came out.  I asked Garrett if he was nervous and he said "Mom, it was only a soft lock down not a hard lock down"  Apparently a hard lock down is when the danger is on the school grounds.  It was a reminder that we need to be aware of our surroundings and remind our children what to do in case of danger.  We were  very impressed with the way the police and school handled the situation.
We always forget how a little bit of bubbles goes a LONG way.  :)
One night Libbie created a puppet show for us.  I'm sorry this picture isn't better.  She has a stage, furniture and strings attached to her polly pockets.  We were all enthralled with her imaginative story.  :)
Libbie and Gavin take pictures of their toys with my phone all the time.  Don't know why but this one struck me as funny.  Maybe it reminds me of Libbie and her love of dogs.
Philip posted about the Indy Car fun -- this was right afterward in the same parking lot.  These guys were crazy!  I think this jump was just a warm up but it made my stomach turn every time they did it.

Thank goodness for digital cameras. Pictures preserve memories. A picture si worth a thousand words.

Thanks MEgan for keeping us up to date on what's happening in Nevada.

Love you all forever.

Love the photos...thanks so much! I'm having a harder time getting to a computer these days too with longer and more frequent working hours...but it's ok, I'm saving money to travel to see my family:). Just FYI, a hard lockdown in our schools means the kids have to stay in the school and parents cannot go pick them up until the danger is past. I thought that was a little extreme, but that's their procedure.
