Our Libster

I think I've mentioned Gavin's book club that he attends every month.  If not, I need to because it's an excellent club.  Anyway, Libbie has been watching him and wanting to do the same thing.  I promised her 1 book over the summer.  She choose Junie B. Jones, First Grader, Aloha-ha.
After all of the girls read the book, we gathered for "book club"  We chatted a bit about the book, I asked a few questions and the girls each shared their favorite part.  After that we just played and enjoyed our imaginations.  We played "pin the flower on the lei"
 We played "hot coconut"
We decorated our hair like Junie does when she is in Hawaii with beautiful pink flowers
We had some delicious Hawaiian snacks including macadamia nuts, kiwi and of course, goldfish.:)  The girls got to take pictures of everything they did at book club, I printed them out and they made a "photo journal" just like Junie does in the book.
Hopefully it helped the book to come to "life" for the girls.  It was a fun experience.
I just had to add these last two in.  Libbie loves to create.  She and Gavin had been skateboarding a lot the last few weeks of summer so she created this 3-D art.  It is our street with our house and our friends house across the street.  Gavin is skateboarding and I'm not sure whose yellow  car that is.  But I thought it was quite creative.

Lastly, this is how Libbie beats the boredom of the last few weeks of summer.  Hanging out with her Pixie dog.:)

It is so improtant to help kids to be involved in wholesome things. And being creative in aconstructive way is to be encouraged as much as possible. It makes for happier kids and a better world.

Love you all and always,

Grandpa Bart

Looks like the girls had a great
time. Let me know the next book
in the series and I can get that
for her for her baptism. You're
a great Mom.

Love always, Grandma Iris

Great idea the book club party looks like you out did yourself. Libbie is looking quite grown-up lately.

Miss you!

Wow, I've been out of it too, Megan. I guess I haven't seen your past several posts. This book club looks fantastic. Way to go! I have to say I like the uniforms for school for the same reason--simple choices we don't have to wonder if it goes or not. You were wise to simplify in activities. We are having fun, but I feel crazy all the time. I do Gavin will play football next time around w/ Mason though! I have missed you this past week or so. Hope to connect soon...
