The 3rd graders at Wallin got to go on a field trip to Mt. Charleston in June. It was a great finish to the children learning about the desert and different desert animals. On the way up the mountain they stopped 3 times to document the changes in the flora and fauna. Their destination was a camping area with a lodge and cabins. Philip was able to chaperone and said it was like a mini Scout camp. They both said they had a great time!

The kids worked on skits at school so they'd be ready to go at campfire time. Here is Gavin and a friend doing "The invisible bench" Those scout years are paying off.:)
Gavin got to sleep on the top bunk but all reports said he kept hitting his head on the ceiling when he'd sit up. Ouch!
Gavin and his friend Kody - they made an emergency shelter.

Cydney had so much fun at the same field trip during her 3rd grade year at Lamping. I'm so glad Mr. O'Dowd has continued the tradition. Mt. Charleston is a beautiful area, but the stark contrast between the Vegas Valley and this mountain idyll is a bit shocking, isn't it? Glad Gavin and Phillip had fun!
I'm very happy to see the pine trees! I had heard rumors in the past about them but first time I've seen a picture! What a great school for the kids...you guys are blessed in so many ways!
