Garrett's 1st Scout Campout

Garrett had his 1st Campout on Friday night.  They went to Camp Kimball just about 45 minutes from here.  He was lucky to have his Dad go with him(or I was lucky, so I didn't worry so much.)  I was so proud of him and his friend Ryan, they were the only ones in their Patrol to wear their uniforms (leaders included) and they wore them proudly.  I hope it rubs off onto the other boys soon but if not, I am very proud of Garrett for sticking with what he knows to be right.  They were only gone for 20 hours or so...but I think it was the best 20 hours of his last few months.  The only info I got when he came home was that there happened to be a prison break out the night they were up there and that the prisoners were in their camp!  Philip said the kids were so scared they put themselves in bed at 9 PM.  Their leader is about 25 and they all love him -- even his ghost stories.
A Happy Camper

Destructrion of some sort, I'm sure

more destruction

It's not a real mine shaft -- but they felt cool breaking "the rules"

The best way to get clean when you get home from a campout!

I'm so glad you liked your campout Garrett and that your mom got some pix via Dad I'm sure! I think hiking and campouts are really fun and so good for us somehow. Here's to many more in scouting and elsewhere (PS - I have a great hike in mind for when you come visit this summer:)
