At least we hope we did! Each month Libbie has an assignment called "Authors Chair." She needs to write a book. Last month she wrote a great book called "City Dogs" - Maddie, you would have loved it...she is following in your footsteps with her love of dogs. Anyway, this month the teachers wisely scratched the authoring of a book and replaced it with "Designing and Creating a Leprechaun trap. When I first saw the assignment (so creatively titled "family project") I gave the paper to Philip and said "this one's yours." He was excited....I was still thinking about all the other homework we had to accomplish during the month.
As professional procrastinators do (and yes, that's what we are) we put it off until we had no more weekend time. So for Family Night Activity last week -- we created an awesome (if I do say so myself) leprechaun trap.
We lured him in with some Lucky Charms..then gave him a ladder to climb so he could feel big. THEN when we got to the top, he had to reach for the gold in the bucket. Little did he know that we had punched a hole in the top of the container but sneakily covered the hole with very thin paper. We knew he'd fall right through.
This is a sign that says "no leprechauns" (in case you can't see it, it's a picture Libbie drew of a Leprechuan and then put a line through it) She just knew Leprechauns are naughty and don't obey signs.
Well, we THINK she was right. We found the trap the next morning with a big hole in the top...lots of green confetti left behind...but no leprechaun. We think we got him -- but he somehow found a way to climb out!?! It's a mystery -- until next year.

So cute! I think the best inspiration comes at the last minute. At least, that is what I tell myself to make me feel better. :) Awesome!
I love it Libbie (and fam)! I wish Elle could see it, she's fascinated by the whole St. Patrick/Leprechaun thing. Really great job...I think you are all so creative...I didn't know people in my family could have that ability:).
Being creative is where the fun is. Foster creativity, enev if it drives us all a little kooky. The world would still be in the Dark Ages if it weren't for some creative kooks.
Love you all and always,
Grandpa Bart
That is so cute, and everyone helped out, like all families should. All good memories for life.
Love you all, Grandma Iris
