Garrett made his first debut at Wallin Elementary yesterday. They have been studying the 50 States and their capitols. They were each assigned a state to research, complete a power point presentation and create a "cut out" of their state. Garrett got to research Hawaii. For a culmination of the project they had a 5th grade pageant yesterday morning for the school to watch. Personally, I thought it was great because they sang a song about the states, then each child from every 5th grade class came to the front, said their name, their state and an interesting fact about their state. Short sweet and to the point. Not to mention that everyone was included.
Of course, Libbie and Gavin were there to support...
and Gavin too!
After the Pageant I headed over to Garrett's class to help his teacher with some things and I saw this on the board outside his class. He created and completed (well, I might add) a R.A.F.T. project (Role, Audience, Format and Topic) on Adrian Peterson a Minnesota Vikings football player.
Garrett is doing great in school here. I am proud of him for making the change so smoothly. It's not been without rough patches (and I'm sure there are more to come) but man am I grateful for how smoothly it has gone.

Well, I am a VERY proud Grandma at this point! I'm going to call Garrett and let him tell me about his report again on the phone. I don't see why we can't practice the phone thing and it'll get easier with time and practice...just like everything elese in life:)
