things are never as they seem

We headed to Las Vegas last Monday to find our family a home to live in.  We had decided we would buy a home so we went through all the proper steps.  We researched neighborhoods, schools, prices etc.  We got prequalified and had a great realtor to help us.  We looked at several homes, made an offer on one and waited....and waited...and waited.

As of Thursday night we thought things would be fine with our offer.  Then Friday morning (about St. George on the drive home) we got a call that the listing realtor had been out of the office and just realized the home was already being sold to someone else.  Well THAT was frustrating news.

At first we felt like our trip was for nothing..but we've since realized that our trip had plenty of other blessings.  We were able to really study many of the neighborhoods, our children were able to see that Henderson neighborhoods are more like Layton neighborhoods than they thought.  But most importantly we were able to spend some very good family time together...and to us, that time is always valuable!

We have since rented a home in a different but newer neighborhood just down the street from a great (so they say) elementary school and near a great middle school (Garrett will attend middle school next year)  The Elementary has an autism specialist (great news to me!) and is called an "empowerment school" Check it out:  http://www.wallinelementary.com/

We have seen a total of maybe 10 pictures of the home but we are feeling good about it.  We are definitly going on faith and hope it all works out.  This link will take you to a home that is for sale and has a similar floor plan....ours doesn't have a gate on front and the pool is larger with no grass...it also has no built in woodwork like this one does.  Sales prices can fluxuate 50K even in the same floor plan on the same street -- so pay no attention to that.  It's more than a crazy market down there.  Thus our decision to rent for now.

We are feeling better about this choice and know that the Lord will always lead us in the right paths if we follow his commandments and listen to the spirit.  We are trying to live right so that our personal liahona works --- and works well!

If You let the Spirit guide, you will never go wrong. It may seem like it sometimes, but in the end you will see how you are and were being blessed all along. We are exceited for you and will plan a visit now and then, especially when it is cold up here.

Love you all and always,

Grandpa Bart

I am so glad that you at least found a house. You will be able to move with each other right away and when another move comes, you will be able to move right away again. The Lord is watching out for you guys! It may seem to not make sense financially (half of the time in AZ it didn't seem to make sense to rent down there), but you are blessed. I am sure you were led to the right area from what you say about the schools! Love ya! Totally going to miss you! (I know Mike has cried himself to sleep over Phillip many nights ;), but he WILL miss him). Let me know any other help you need!!!! Love ya! Safe travels this week!

Right now I could really go for a Vegas winter!! I look forward to hearing about your move! My family moved a lot when I was growing up, but it was always done with lots of prayer. Looking beck I can see the good in each move. It is so hard especially as a kid, but it made our family closer and stronger! Xo
