to spin or not to spin?

It's taken me 4 years to get the nerve to go "upstairs" at the club. They offer some great classes, but I've always been too nervous to go. I finally got up the nerve to go in January and have loved them. I have been going to Body Combat, Body Pump, Body Sculpt and Yoga/Pilate's. Today was another break through. I made it to spin class. I'd heard Jason & Rene say they liked them and several other friends at the club have gone -- so with Candace by my side(to be totally honest, she's the only reason I went) we headed in.

Me: "um, is this the 1 1/2 hour class?"(most are only 1 hour)
instructor: "yes"
Me: "okay, well this is our first time."
instructor: "okay, we'll get you set up"
me: "do you think we can do this?"(REALLY wanting her to say no, try another day when it's easier)
instructor: (hesitating) "yes, you can do it!"

after some serious fumbling with my bike to get the seat the right height, etc..... we were off! BTW, this picture doesn't actually depict my class -- they turn the lights off(there are windows and a door for light) and crank the music. I think I sweat out 2 pounds in the first 10 minutes alone. It's hard to pedal standing for a long time, really hard! We finished the 90 minute work-out and I'm glad to say, we're ready to go back. (note to self....bring a towel next time, the pool of sweat under my bike wasn't pretty)

I'm impressed! I've heard those spin classes can be brutal...

I have done a spin class a few times - it was grueling, but great. I did not think I would survive the first time though. And yes, a towel is an awesome thing to bring.

Keep it up. You'll be ready for LOTOJA by September for sure. Don't worry about a little sweat. I hear gym rats like the smell. Sinning has one distinct advantage. You don't have to worry about getting sideswiped by a truck.

Keep on keeping on!

No, Megan, I didn't mean to say sinning. My fat fingers must have missed the "P" in spinning. If you are out there "sinning" it might be better to get hit by a truck. Sorry.

I love your flowers! and I love that you tried spinning. I have known several people who have used it as a very efficient method of losing those pounds and shaping that body! You can do it girl! And of course, I love you!
