Pinewood Derby Days

The boys were both lucky enough to race in the Pack Pinewood Derby last night. The Tiger Cubs were, once again, invited to have Pack Meeting with our Ward Pack this month. It seems their Cub Master doesn't want to do everything twice....she's sort of lazy like that.
(Gavin's car is a Hammerhead shark and he hopes to have many more sharks to come. Garrett's is better seen in the picture below(grey and white), very futuristic. I called it speed racer.:)

We're lucky enough to have access to a great track with an awesome software system that posts their places and times instantly. Philip brought a projector & projected them all up on the wall.
Yeah, I know I'm wearing a referee shirt....it was the closest I had to racing gear.
The cars in their parking spots before the races began.
The theme for the month is "when I grow up..." We decided to put together a time capsule for each of the boys that they can open when they are 18. Included will be goals they wrote for themselves, info about the Pack, a photo of them with their Pinewood Derby car and a Pack photo. I was in "official" uniform.:)

What cute boys!!!!! Of course I'm
pregidus (spl)? It brings back memories of our boys and all those cars that their DAD made for them.
That was a lot of cars, but it sure
was fun, hope to see you soon.
Love ya, Mom

I' didn't make alll those cars, but I do have to admit I gave lots of assistance. Funny thing, the ones I thought were the best often did not do well and some of the one's I didn't spend as much time on won the whole thing. I never got very scientific about it. Your track looks awesome. We had an old home made one that kept getting worse and worse with each passing year, but kids and parents alike had a great time. Our Elder's Quorum here in Logan had one for themselves recently. There's something about scouting activities that takes adults back to their childhood. That is not all bad sometimes.

Good job Boys! GO SPEED RACER!

Very impressed with the packs uniform display. All even had neckerchiefs. Way to go!

That looks like it was so much fun! All of the boys cars looked so good - especially your boys. Alec walked past and said he wants them for his birthday. Haha.

Nogales Ward not only had Pinewood Derby for the scouts, they also had a ward Pinewood Derby. They loved it! Lots of competition every year! It is something the boys really look forward to each year. How did Gavin and Garrett do one the winning/losing end?

We don't give places in our ward -- just participation certificates. Does it sound like Megan is in charge?:)

The computer prints out an overall standing and Gavin said he was 10th(out of 20) and Garrett forgot to look.(said he didn't hear the announcement....shocker!:))
