Who-dunnit in pack 525?

Garrett received his Wolf Rank in Cub Scouts this week. He hasn't been a fan of Cub Scouts since he started in Tiger Cubs. He usually gets frustrated with whatever activity they are doing and says we are trying to change his personality by having him go to Cub Scouts.

Last week at their Den Meeting they asked him to play King Nebakanezzer in a skit they were doing. (Passing off a Faith in God and Cub Scout requirement at the same time -- way to go Den Leaders!) Anyway, he came home so excited because they asked him to be the King. He was excited to do the play at Pack Night and they all did a great job.

I asked him what his favorite part about Pack Night was when we came home and he said, "Getting my Wolf and my arrow points" Normally his answer would be "Nothing." I am so happy that he is excited about Cubs now. He has, for whatever reason, decided to enjoy Cub Scouts now. He's excited to get another arrow point before he graduates to Bears in November.

These pictures need some back ground. The months theme was "Adventures in Reading" so we all dressed up like our favorite book character. Philip is Porter Rockwell(Joseph Smith's bodyguard) and I am Scarecrow Pete from a children's book. In these pictures I was dressed as Sherlock Shemlock, a detective trying to find out "who dunnit in Pack 525?" I am the cubmaster so I turned out the lights and looked for clues with a flashlight until I found a large book that I had made with some of their requirements written on them. It turned out really fun.

Here Garrett is pinning on my Mother's pin.

Philip presenting him his award and giving him words of encouragement.

Way to go Garrett! Keep up the great work.

That's always good news when your kids start enjoying these activities. And considering who his parents are, he is bound to be a great scout!

Good for Garrett! Cade loves being a cub scout. I am the one who can't quite get the Spirit of Cub Scouting. I hope it will come with time!
