Dreams

Not the ambition kind, but the kind you have when you sleep. I have always wondered about them and now my kids are asking. I'm not that interested that I want to buy a book -- but I'm wondering what others think.

Why do we dream?

What do recurring dreams mean?

If you dream about someone in particular, should you tell them?

Why do we have nightmares?

HMMM? any thoughts?

This is one of those questions I want to ask when we get to the other side. I mean, I know they can be good, like visions, but mostly they're bizarre and make no sense.
I had a recurring nightmare as a child about a wolf who walked upright and could talk. He would chase me and bite me when he caught me. I'm sure a psychiatrist would have a hay-day with that one. I think it came from watching 'Dark Shadows' with my aunt. Guy never remembers his-lucky!

What gets to me is when I have a dream about someone that I don't ever think about. I just think, where in the world did that come from? But, a few years ago I had a dream about Will Smith and at the time I thought "That was weird I don't even think he's cute" but now I think he is totally hot so I guess your subconscious really is working.

When I was pregnant I dreamed I was dating Joey off Friends.:) That was the START of Philp's realization that I'm crazy.:)
Ahhh -- those were the days!

Well, I think it's definitely our subconscious thoughts coming to the surface when we are relaxed, sleeping and not consciously pushing them down. I have no idea about recurring dreams...I have had similar ones about being naked in a public place or trying to run from something scary and my feet are like in cement or the one I had most was when I was younger and I couldn't find my locker at school (bear in mind that I went to a high school that had a total of 130 students...kind of hard tolose your locker I think). Maybe they are recurring because of some insecure feeling we have about something. I usually tell people when I dream about them...if I remember the dream which isn't often. I think our dreams are influenced by the world around us...what we see, hear, touch, etc., etc. media definitely influences it. Kenna used to have regular nightmares after seeing something frightening to her on tv or movies...i think that is common. But my favorite dreams are when they seem to mean something to you personally. I've only had a couple of those...again, that I remember. Clint and his family have had prophetic dreams about others that have happened. Hence the weird phone calls from him when he dreams something about one of our family that worries him. Paige got one of those calls recently.

Hmm? My friend told me yesterday that they can be a way of releasing stress. Maybe the content isn't correct, but the stress is released.
