Tuesday Tell All - Made by Hand

"This week we are giving you the chance to document something(s) in your home that are special because they were hand made.
Inspire us with your children's artwork, the quilt your Grandmother made or a craft you just finished....the possibilities are endless."

There's not much handmade by me in this home -- shocker!! -- I have many talents, but making things by hand is NOT one of them. I do have a few things that were made by hand by others. This Cedar Chest is one of them. This was made for my Great Grandmother on my Dad's side of the family by a man in Blanding, UT. Recently it was given to me by my Dad. I LOVE this chest.

The main thing I love about it is that there are some hammer marks on the top of it. My Dad says when he was 2 he used his hammer to "build" this chest. I'm sure he thought he was a pretty cool kid, until he got in BIG trouble for "messing up" this chest. This past Christmas we asked Garrett what we should get Papa Bruce for Christmas. He quickly replied "a hammer, he's been hammering things since he was 2, like the chest we have." So, we bought him a small hammer and all of the kids signed it.:)

Sometimes, when we think our children are "messing things up" they may actually be creating a great memory or piece of history!:)
