Philmont

A week after we got home from San Diego we headed off again to the Rocky Mountain Council Annual Philmont Retreat.  I thought we were going camping but when we arrived I was pleasantly surprised at the housing situation.  What a treat!

We got there Friday afternoon and headed out Sunday afternoon.  So Saturday was our adventure day.  While Philip and the boys headed to shoot guns, Libbie and I hiked to a dinosaur track and some Indian writings.  We also saw some herds of Buffalo and Antelope.  We had a great time.

Halfway through the day we met up with the boys for lunch.

There was even a basketball court and yes, Garrett found it.

Gavin learned to tie some new knots.

The boys had a great time shooting.

Saturday night we had a great science show presented to us by Doc Gizmo the Science geek.  He was amazing and quite entertaining.  Here, Philip is helping him heat up a bolt by holding a blow torch to it.  The experiment was to drop it in a two liter of root beer and the root beer exploded like a volcano.

We had a great time at Philmont and are excited to go back next year.
