Black Mountain Hike

Our Ward hosted a Black Mountain hike the last Saturday of Spring Break.  The "mountain" is just behind our house.  We start at about 2000 feet in elevation and gain 2100 feet.  It's about 5 miles round trip.  I have to say -- Philip and I decided we're out of shape -- we were sore when we got home.:)  The boys aren't in our pictures because they were to the top and headed back down before we even got there.  Poor kids waited for us for an hour at the bottom.  I think going down was harder than going up.  A lot of it was really rocky.  From the top we could see the whole Las Vegas Valley (see pics) but the other direction we could even see the Colorado River -- pretty cool!
Garrett and I hiked together for quite a while -- until he left me in the dust.  Finally, after I stopped several times, he politely asked if he could keep going.

Libbie hiked with her Dad the whole time -- she was a trooper the whole 5 miles.

Some of the group at the top of Black Mountain

Libbie and I at the top -- It was crazy how much colder it was up there.

Philip and Libbie with a well deserved hoorah!

Looks like a fun hike. The kids will put you to shame if you don't keep working on the fitness thing. Believe me, I speak from experience. Hope you are all well and happy,

Love you all and always,

Grandpa Bart

I distinctly remember you leaving me in the dust everytime we hiked...except when we were the only ones:). Considering there is a ski resort there somewhere (I think) I would expect it to be colder up there:).

Gorgeous views! I'm afraid my kids would've waited a lot longer than an hour for us.
(I love the string idea for the Easter baskets. I may have to borrow that one!)
