In June our family was asked to talk in church. It was such a great experience for all of us. I felt especially blessed as I got to help our children write their talks. Really, all I did was type them while they did the dictation. I was so excited to hear their thoughts on our topic of Faith. Philip asked each child to choose a scripture story that told about Faith. I've been thinking about how touched I was by their talks and thought I'd better get them in print.
Libbie's talk:
I am going to talk to you about a man that had a lot of faith. His name was Noah. Noah was a prophet of the Lord, so he could talk to the Lord. The people around him were wicked and would not repent. He tried to tell the people to repent or there was going to be a flood but the people did not listen to him. There was no rain or water so the people didn’t have faith that what he was saying could come true. Noah had faith that there would be a flood so he kept on going. He put the animals on his ark so that they would be saved and they wouldn’t drown. Noah and his family stayed on the ark for over a year. They had faith that the flood would go away and it did.
I have faith in Jesus Christ. I have faith that Heavenly Father loves me. I have faith that my family can live together forever if we choose the right. I have faith in our Prophet, Thomas S. Monson. I have faith in Bishop Nef.
BEAR YOUR TESTIMONY
In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
Garrett's talk:
I chose to tell a story from the Book of Mormon about Abinadai and King Noah.
King Noah was bad because he misled his people in lots of ways. He taught them that it was okay to steal and lie. The Lord sent Abinadi to teach King Noah and his priests the truth about Jesus Christ and Heavenly Father. He taught them about the 10 commandments and asked them to obey them. He said that if they didn’t repent and obey the commandments they would be destroyed. King Noah didn’t like this so he told his guards to kill Abinadai. Abinadai said “touch me not” to the guards and his face was bright with the light of the Lord. This scared the guards and Noah but not enough to get them to obey. They still put Abinadai in prison and 3 days later they beat him and burned him because he had so much faith he would not deny the truth.
This story is a good example of Faith in the Lord because Abinadai believed in the Lord so much that he was willing to die while being a missionary to King Noah. He knew that his message was more important than his earthly life.
In my life, I can show faith in the Lord Jesus Christ by praying to Heavenly Father every day. I know that Heavenly Father hears my prayers. The reason I know this is because he has answered my prayers lots of times. One time, I lost a book and we prayed and prayed and we found it right after. Another time I was stuck in a tree and everyone had already gone inside so I prayed that someone would come out and find me. Right after that someone came out to help me out of the tree.
I have faith that my family will live together forever as long as we choose the right. I know that Heavenly Father loves me and wants me to be happy.
In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
Oh dear, I can't find Gavin's talk -- I'll keep looking. Poor middle child.:)

You can know how happy we are that your children are being taught and developing faith. They feel the spirit when they have these opportunities to bear testimony. Keep on loving and teaching them.
Love you all and always,
