This year I have the pleasure of helping to run the PTA at our school. Some people would say, "a pleasure??", but so far I've found it to be really fun. I have an awesome co-President, Darcy, that I get to work with. We didn't know each other very well when we started but we've had such a fun time getting to know each other and starting a great friendship. I also love that I
get to be at the school a lot of the time but I don't
have to be at the school. Sometimes the employees will say things like "we should start paying you because you are here so much" but my reply is "That's the beauty of it, I can go home whenever I want." I am loving contributing something good to each of the childrens lives at Mountain View.
One of my first "assignments" (yes, that means something I volunteered for:)) was to help out on the first day of school. Our new Principal, Mr. Beatty, rolled out the red carpet for the kids. He wore a tux and our assistant Principal wore a nice dress and they greeted the kids as they came in on the first day. There was some fun and very loud music playing (camp rock, hannah...all the good ones) and there was even a very large monkey. Yep, that was me.

I got to be Curious George on the first day of school. I have gained an incredible respect for any mascot! Granted, mine was a one size fits all...but honestly, my right eye was squished from the helmet and my left eye could only see out a very small portion of the mouth. Plus it was so hot I thought I might pass out. Who knew what those mascots go through? BUT, thanks to my trusty sidekick Darcy I made it through the morning. She talked me through my lack of sight. She is in the black and white shirt, notice she never left my side.:)

When all of the kids got to their classrooms we brought them all down for a "meet the new principal" assembly. It was a great magic show and of course Curious George was a part of that too and without Darcy I
only almost tripped once.:)
A special thanks to my most important side-kick, Philip, for hanging out with me all morning...even though I couldn't see him. He supports me...even when I'm a monkey.:)

This is the best post I have read ALL week. Thanks for sharing. I am seriously LMBO right now.
I get to work on this day, and someone in my office had a picture of you printed and taped to my door! I was like why? Then I remembered you telling me about this in one of our visits.
You are doing a good job thanks for keeping an eye our for my kids too when you are at the school.
I can't believe you agreed to do that! What a trooper!! No wonder you get a little stressed now and then...you're a little crazy:)! I love you honey and am so glad you are able to do all the GOOD things you do!
