What a great day I had yesterday at WPPI in Las Vegas. I was invited to head down to Vegas with a few of the guys at Pictureline, Inc. They are so great to work with. Not only are they truly nice people but they are patient with me in this whole learning process. They don't try to throw big words out to make themselves look great, they are honest and down to earth. Honestly, doing business with them makes me wish I was into photography so I could buy some great product at their store. Jens Neilson, the owner, is a top notch guy. I'm very impressed and would highly recommend their shop to anyone in need of a camera. Tell them "made by meegz" sent you!:)
So the day started with an early flight down. I'm pretty sure the two very broad shouldered men on either side of me heard me snoring or at least could see down my throat, since I slept with my mouth open most of the time. Mom, as embarrassing as it is, I am getting more and more like you -- don't care if they see me with my mouth open sleeping...I'm tired! Anyway, after the 7 AM coke, I woke up a bit and headed to the MGM for the show. I'm pretty sure I walked a mile or so THROUGH the MGM from the front doors to the Convention Center. Holy Hannah that place is big!
The show -- what a sight! 14,000 people and two huge convention rooms full of booths, of course Cannon & Nikon took up a lot of the room we were in. There was a lot of networking and it was so great for me to meet new people and get to know what the photographers like and don't like. If I learned anything it's that most of those great photogs out there don't like Pink. Note to self: no more pink!
After a long 6 hours of standing and talking (and I was only there 1 day, poor Pictureline guys are doing it for 3 days, ugh) we headed to the airport. Love that Jens, I really do, but the nice man got us lost on the way to the airport. Not to mention that once we got in the airport vicinity...it was like navigating through a very bad website. Followed the signs, but they never got you to where you wanted to go. I learned two things - 1: Passat Wagons corner like they are on rails and 2: my new shoes are not made for running through the entire Las Vegas Airport to the farthest gate.
But -- I made it. As I was running up to the gate the attendant was on the phone saying " Oh wait, here she is...are you Megan? " I sort of smiled through my cherry red, sweaty face and kept running to the door. No one was nice to me for being late....but don't worry...my bleeding heel kept me occupied. You know me, always an adventure and the rest of the day had gone way too smooth.:)
I'm ready for next year and next year I'm bringing my girl Angie at Whimsy Pix with me!!

sounds familiar... We did two home and garden trade shows in Vegas with our Stack and Grow. There is defintely a lot to see. I am glad you were able to go. I hope you made some good contacts and maybe came home withsome free stuff. That was always a bonus for us. We would wheel and deal with all the other vendurs that didn't want to take their stuff back home. We ofcourse drove so that we could haul away the loot.
Good work Megan!
We have a business woman in the
family, I wonder if she will still
know us when she gets famous. We
can always say "oh, we know Meegz's
and they will let us in any place.
Seriously, proud of you, glad you
are doing something you really
enjoy, don't burn yourself out tho.
Good for you, Iris
You're becoming quite the business woman, jet-setting around the country. Good for you!
I'm so happy you got this opportunity and I hope all your straps sold!! And, personally, I'm glad you're getting more like me...we have that much more in common...even if it my "who cares" attitude:)! Hope your heel is healing!
A new adventure. Hope you enjoyed your day and I'm sure the kids were glad when you got back home.
