my gav

How can I go on? -- I asked. Well, I'll tell you, I couldn't do anything without my kids, and this time it was Gavin who saved the day! Gavin had a soccer game this morning at 8:30. For 8:30 AM games he chooses to sleep in his soccer uniform. His uniform was in his soccer backpack....can you see where I'm going with this? Yep, so was the CAMERA!!! So last night he came running upstairs to say "I FOUND IT!"

Oh, dear sweet Gavin --- he found the camera. We don't have to buy a new one! Yippee!! Apparently I had good intentions of taking pictures of him last week and left it in the backpack. Told you I'd lose my head if it wasn't attached.

I love that Gav --- for more reasons that that. Check out these notes I've found around the house this past week.
spy kid of the year (Level 2 Agent)
I didn't even get to go to the awards ceremony. I would have supported him, really. Who knew? Maybe it's a secret and I just let the cat out of the bag!?
This is kind of blurry but it says "my birthday wishes: at least 1 popper and 3 brown Bakugan and a huge hug"
I think I can handle that. The poppers are about 5 cents each and the Bakugan are about $5. Less than $20 -- we're in business!

We do love our Gavin --- I've gotta post one more thing about this cutie petootie. Last week we are sitting at dinner and here's the conversation:

Philip: Kids, we've got Christmas and all of our birthdays coming up. We need to be good about our money and not spend too much, not ask for things, etc.

Kids: okay Dad.

Gavin: Do we have that "D word" thing?

Philip: you mean debt?

Gavin: yes

Philip: Yes, Gavin we have debt.

Gavin: (almost in tears) OH NO, we're not supposed to have THAT!

All three kids: But we own our home.

Philip: No, not really, the bank owns it and we pay them for it.

....and the conversation goes on.

Fast forward to last Saturday (yes, the day of the tragic camera loss):

Mom: Gavin, it's soccer pictures today, do you want to buy them this year or can we just take a picture of the team and put it on the blog for our journal?

Gavin: No, we need to get out of debt, let's save our money and not buy pictures.

He's just so darn cute!!!

Yes, that Gavin is such a cool kid. You have a wonderful family and the kids have great parents. You can probably llive with that D-word for a while, but I'm sure glad you found your camera. MEgan might not have made it without the camera.

Totally cute.

Very cute. I am so impressed he equated the "get out of debt" with not getting soccer pictures. My kids just assume Brian and I should watch what we spend but not when it comes to them! :)
