Normal

We're a pretty normal family.

...I woke up, barely, this morning to find Philip on the couch and all three kids still in bed, at 8 AM. (apparently he got too hot upstairs so he came downstairs...he's our alarm clock, so dependent family sleeps in:))

...we need to have the kids out the door at 8:20 AM

...we had french toast, because it was promised by Dad last night and it's "end of year testing" so they HAVE to have a good breakfast.

...We said our family prayer over the last bite of food and threw the kids out the door

...only to find that the bus was already there and they had to run to catch it

...Libbie and I proceed to go back to bed (on the couch) We are usually right out the door with the boys to get to the gym. Not today...we were tired.

...Libbie read me a book and wanted to watch some show that I thought was annoying...I actually slept (while trying REALLY hard to fake that I was awake)

...finally Ethan, our cute 5 year old neighbor busted through the garage door to wake us up and get us going.

...Libbie and I worked in the community garden for 4 hours today...TRYING to get a water system going...I have a farmer burn.

...Libbie and I had a crappy lunch cuz we were in a hurry.

...I had a community council meeting, Philip promised he'd be home to babysit, he couldn't, Candace to the rescue...again!

...After rushing home from the meeting I got all three kids ready. Garrett and Gavin for Baseball, Gavin for soccer after baseball and Libbie for her dance dress rehearsal.

...Philip and I divided and conquered to get the kids to their activities.

...Ameli saved us by driving by to chat about the garden, realizing we didn't have dinner yet and offered us one of her Little Cesar's pizzas. LOVE her!! We owe her big time.

...tried to get the kids to bed at a decent hour only to find their rooms a disaster area...didn't we clean them just yesterday???

...got rooms clean with out killing children(sheer miracle!)

...came downstairs to find breakfast (filling french toast breakfast remember) dishes STILL on the counter. (sleep, garden, activities...yeah, no time for breakfast dishes)

...did dishes, cleaned up house --- sat down to computer and thought ---

HOLY COW are we normal? The boys were telling me they couldn't tell if their clothes on the floor were clean or dirty and Libbie hollered back, "just smell them, that's how you tell" OH MY, what have I taught my daughter?

Then I thought -- yup, we're normal!!

My sunburn and I are ready for another normal day tomorrow.

You have taught her the smart way to tell if clothes are dirty or clean, of course!

You should call me if/when you need help on crazy days like that. Really!

And yes your family is normal!!!!

LOVE, =)

I'd say you are pretty normal. Sometimes we'd like to be a little less normal I'm sure and we can overcome these days that seem to overwhelm us. It takes a little planning and then not worrying to much about an ocassional "faux pas". Sometimes these kinds of days and experiences are our best teachers.
