Guided by the pro

As long as I have someone guiding me, it would seem that I can sew an apron or two!:)

I have to say, I'm quite pleased. I have stayed away from sewing like it's the plague for years. I am TRYING to learn but still scared to actually push the pedal on the machine for fear that I will mess it up, just one more time!! My Mom is a great seamstress and tried desperately to teach me -- she even taught a community sewing class that I attended! To no avail, sewing just wasn't in me.

With Libbie's Birthday Tea Party right around the corner I decided I needed a few aprons for Megan and Maddie(the servers) to wear. Michelle found the pattern, cut them out, and pressed a few seams(or whatever you call it before I sew it) BUT -- I, yes I, sewed them -- every stitch. Even the gathering stitches and the stitch over the gathers. HEE HEE!!! You can tell I have NO Idea what I am talking about.:)

Once again --- THANKS MICHELLE!! The girls love them and are excited to wear them on Saturday.

They look great, but I would not recommend that you start moonlighting as a seamstress, not that you couldn't do it, or anything else you put your mind to, it's just hat you're doing the very most important thing anyone could be doing right now, caring for your wonderful family and others.

I am impressed! Great job. You know what my problem is in sewing? I cannot read a pattern. So I pretend I know how to sew. But your aprons look wonderful and I am sure that the girls will absolutely love them - cute fabric by the way.

Oh the fabric was Michelle's too --I really can't take too much credit -- but I did anyway.:)

The girls are so excited to wear the aprons! You are a great Aunt! Thanks for loving my kids.

And, you can care for your kids and sew... heck, I work full-time and take care of my kids... it can be done... and done right.

Love,
Rene

I had forgotten all about teaching that class! I need you kids to write my memoirs for me! Anyway, the aprons did look great and served the purpose. And, I'm really not a great seamstress, I can just read a pattern and put it together. It's like a puzzle or any other project that when you complete feel really satisfying. You have practical, mechanical skills that I will never have...I can't "read" those patterns!
